Upshifting Revs Drop?!

Hi All,

New to the forum - so hello to you all!

I purchased a ‘61 plate RRS (Stormer Edition) about a month ago. Absolutely love it, however I’ve noticed one issue that I’m not too comfortable with. It’s still got 2 months on Dealer all inclusive warranty to would like some advice to hopefully find a solution and get it sorted! It’s only got 55k miles and had both timing belts changed and service done before sale.

I’ve noticed that when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear (in auto mode) the gearbox seems to try to change but then hang on to the gear slightly longer and then finally change. It doesn’t seem to happen in M/S mode.

I have tried the trick of ‘resetting’ the transmission memory by holding down accelerator etc (not sure if it works). But hasn’t seemed to do anything.

Anyone else familiar with the problem? I’m not mechanically minded at all, but would like to atleast have a place to start to look.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Very Happy

It may be worth doing a fluid flush on the transmission. It isn't in the service schedule but recommended by the OEM. Kev

I stand corrected if I'm wrong but not heard about this resetting the Gearbox by holding the accelerator down. I thought it had to be done using a suitable plug in device, normally done as part of the Gearbox flush. I had this done,, as have many others, and the Gearbox was reset so that it basically re- learns your driving style. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!
Many years ago,,,,, 1955 series 1 landie , sometimes wish I had kept it

I’m thinking of getting a flush and gearbox service done.

Not sure if it would be related but when cruising, if I lift off the accelerator the revs drop and then return to normal. I’ve heard it could need the throttle body cleaned.

Anyone else had this?

The gearbox reset is something which was mentioned on a number of occasions on the FFRR forum!

If I remember correctly, it’s pedal to floor with ignition off, ignition to position 2, hold pedal down for 60 secs, ignition off & release pedal.
