Restricted Performance, Gearbox fault & Forward Alert no

Hi Guys,

As the title states I'm getting a weird set of issues all of a sudden. So far it happens just after cold start and are Restricted Performance, Gearbox fault & Forward Alert not available.

When this happens it Limp modes in 3rd gear and of course the acceleration is so slow and takes forever to get to 60km/h. It starts perfectly, idles happily etc.

The 1 code that is constant is P0088 Fuel Rail/System Pressure too High.

I can restart the vehicle and reset codes as much as I like but when cold it will just keep coming back. However if I shut it off then restart get into gear fast and give it some good accelerator it forgets all about it and carries on as normal like there is no issue.

I've got lots of looking to do to try and sort it.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,
Chris

How old is your battery? On a modern vehicle, a low battery can cause all sorts of issues.

Stick the car on a battery charger overnight and see if that helps? --

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I too thought battery and this still could be possibility.

From today I have figured out that it only does it on first cold start and with very light throttle. Once warm it won't do it even after restarts etc. We read the snapshot data of the fault and the fuel pressure at the time was no where near over pressure as far as we can work out. It read 26kPa at time of fault.

Battery is dated Jan/2018 so not extremely old and tested 100%, this may still get changed at some point anyway.

I'm going to give it a high dose of diesel injector clean (snake oil) and then a new fuel filter to see if this makes a difference.

I will follow up with on charge overnight then start and try.

Will keep you all posted on this odd fault.

So to continue with the troubleshooting I gave it the overdose of snake oil last night (1 bottle for 30l diesel).

Now when I started last night I had run the FBH before hand and didn't get the fault at all. Today first cold start tried to cause the fault by being very light on the throttle and no fault.

Gonna have to give it a little longer to see if it is still hiding in background or not. I will change the fuel filter in coming days regardless. 2010 RRS TDV8 181000km

So it would appear the injector cleaner has fixed the issue. Hasn't come back since. Changed fuel filter today anyway. 2010 RRS TDV8 181000km
