England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
suspension question......

Right folks, I have a quick question regarding the suspension on my 2006 RRS.

Last weekend I ended up having to swap out my compressor, I'd tried a rebuild kit from X8R which worked for a few days but then the fault came back again. I bought an exhaust and air delivery valve kit too. When trying to undo the air delivery valve it sheared off so a new compressor was needed.

New Dunlop compressor from MM4x4 fitted and fault has gone away, and she is up and down with no issues. However every so often now when either closing a door or locking/unlocking the car there is a sudden loud(ish) whoosh, for want of a better word.

There are no errors or codes shown when read with a friends reader, the car seems to perform perfectly so the question is is there something wrong or as it is now the warmest time of year that I've owned the RRS for is this a normal process to avoid over pressuring as the air expands in the system.

it doesn't happen every time, and sometimes it has been after a very short journey and sometimes it does it after a longer one. Any help, suggestions would be greatly received.

many thanks 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

Thanks guys , figured it might be normal but as only just started after new compressor was fitted was getting a little concerned that there was a secondary issue, especially as it was loud enough for a colleague to hear in the car park about 30ft away Laughing Laughing

Can go back to enjoying it again now and wait for the next issue to rear its head Whistle Whistle 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

You didn't need to buy a new compressor - you could have drilled out the sheared exhaust valve and put the new one in.

With the noise on the new compressor - did you reconnect the exhaust line that has the muffler in it? If this has not been reconnected the exhaust vents straight to atmosphere and not through the muffler so making a much louder noise.

Garry, sadly as I needed the RRS quickly and the repair kit I got only had the internal spring and rubber bit I was up the proverbial without the necessary paddle Big Cry Big Cry Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

So the only quick fix solution was the new compressor, that said I might well now try and fully rebuild the old one ready for when this one fails.

I believe all pipes were refitted, but will have a quick look this week and make sure all are connected and tight, my guess would be that the exhaust one has come loose since fitting fingers crossed. 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

My exhaust valve also snapped off but in doing so the crud that was stopping the valve from closing dislodged so it started working even though the hex head was broken off. I have a new valve and hex housing ready to go if the compressor plays up in the future.

The rest of my compressor rebuild went well but I did need the metal desiccant container cap. 07MY RRS TDV6

Garry, just to let you know that yes the the exhaust pipe was loose from the compressor, guessing i hand't pushed it fully home, and then knocked it off when fitting the cover.

Now pushed fully home and no noise from it Laughing Laughing 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)
