Hi everyone,

After seeing how a D5 goes higher when off-road compared to the RRS, how difficult would it be to do the following:

1. replace the airbags with longer ones
2. replace the shocks with longer travel ones

or is this a stupid idea? --

Doesn't the D3/4 have longer travel shocks than the Sport?

Not sure, but will they even fit, since the L494 and D3/4 are on different platforms?

Wouldn't the D5's stuff be a closer fit since they're on the same platform? --

I have an EasyLift box on my L320: with standard 'off-road' setting plus 55 mm from the EasyLift, the wheels have started to noticeably 'tuck under' when viewed from the rear. This effect could well be more of a limiting factor than the practicalities.

The RRS1 shares arms with the D3/4 so if the D3/4 wheels can do it, there's no reason why the RRS1 can't. Could swapping D3/4 struts on to an RRS1 allow the extra movement?

Likewise, the D5 shares arms with the RRS2 (according to Advanced Factors's site, the same item is available for both vehicles). Does the D5 have the same variable dampers as fitted to the RRS2? If not, swapping the struts may require some reprogramming to stop the relevant ECU having a tantrum when it can't find the correct dampers. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

yeah, I think the variable dampers will be the issue here - I don't think the D5 has them. --
