England 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Zambezi Silver
HK Audio in 2010 facelift HSE

Hi all

Alas a week ago my beloved 2005 HSE was rear-ended and has been written off Sad

I’m now looking at a 2009/10 facelift to replace her

One thing that I was never happy with was the HK audio. Is the HK audio in the 2010 facelift version just as bad?

Is there a logic 7 upgrade because every car I’ve viewed online just states HK

Cheers

The Logic 7 was only standard factory fitment on the A/B's it was a factory option on other models. So would depend on if ordered when vehicle new.

It’s possible to upgrade to Logic 7 with the purchase of a Premium Amp and additional speakers (depending on what you’re upgrading from).

I like the Logic 7 and it sounds much better than my wife’s 1 year old Focus. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Thanks. Most adverts show the Harmon Kardon logo on the speakers. Would this also say Logic 7 underneath if it was a Logic 7 system? I’m trying to determine if vehicles have it before I actually go see them.

Yes it does, but only use it as a guide and check when you view the car by checking the settings on the screen. 2012 5.0 SC AB

You get Logic 7 with the HSE Luxury pack... a pack that is well worth having if not getting an AB.
If I remember it included:
Logic 7
Sunroof
Wheels upgrade
Adaptive cruise
Extended leather (with contrast stitching if applicable to colour way)
Maybe one or two other bits. Heated steering, probably?

I don’t think the hifi is amazeballs, it’s ok, depends what you’re used to, so I’m rather glad I’m not stuck with the standard sound system. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

OP was looking at 2009/10 facelift, not sure the HSE Lux existed then or when it was introduced though.

I have a HK Logic 7 system installed in my 2010 TDV8 and to be quite frank its really average in sound quality. I don't understand why they call it a premium quality system. I don't know how bad the normal system is, maybe it really bad.

I rate mine, the source plays a big part in quality. If I play back from a USB it’s ok but playback from a CD or DAB is crystal clear. The Sub isn’t the best but that’s more to do with Land Rover build rather than the HK system. 2012 5.0 SC AB

Brit plumber is right. Source matters. Lossy mp3s at low bitrate sound crap anywhere and on any system. Cd quality ripped to a hard drive or usb stick as a minimum, no excuses as it is easy to do and storage is cheap.

The standard hk system is ok with a good source (eg hi res or mqa stream from tidal via bluetooth or in via aux input) though, but could have done with a more powerful amp section. The rattly tailgate sub is an easy low cost fix, I put a post in tips and tricks explaining that.
