New tyres vs steering rack

A couple of months ago, I changed 'normal' road tyres for (identically sized) Wrangler Duratracs; in the last couple of weeks the power-steering rack has been leaking fluid like an incontinent tramp on cheap cider. Can these two facts by any chance be related?
