Engine temp gauge doesn't work also surging revs?

Hi I'm having a couple of problems with my 2006 2.7sport, the engine coolant temperature gauge on the dash doesn't work, it's just sat at the bottom and never moves. Also I've noticed that when accelerating more noticeably at lower revs it makes a noise and the revs surge up and down maybe 100rpm. I've tried cleaning the maf sensor, the throttle body and I've also blanked the egrs both problems were existent before I did this though. Thanks in advance luke

Could be, though a failed EOT/ECT sensor can certainly cause hunting and a rough/erratic idle. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
