Rear Lights

Good day boys and girls
2012 RRSport owner, I have a problem with the drivers side rear brake light (LED) cluster. Drivers side does not light up when brake applied, i have removed the cluster and plugged in to passenger side and works fine. after long journeys the light tends to work on occasion, but when car left over night the brake light does not work again..
Is there anyone who can shed some light on this very annoying electrical issue..... Thanks in advance

Silly question but if you plug the passenger light into the drivers side does that still work ok?

If not then I'm guessing that one of the pins in the connector is at fault/dirty/corroded. It might be worth getting some electrical contact/switch cleaner and give the connector a bit of a clean out......however dont use WD40 as it can leave a film over the pins which can give problems later.

If you can't get switch/contact cleaner then IPA (not the alcoholic variety Wink Laughing Laughing Laughing ) might help to. 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)

Hi Eskimo
I have tried passenger cluster in the drivers side and that doesn't work, i have also tried a brand new one as well that also doesn't work. Also wired in a different connector on the car side to receive the cluster, i think the problem seems to be nearer the electric source in the car some where!!!!!!!!
Would it be possible to tap in to the other brake lights and power the none working one that way???????
As there is no towing sockets fitted there is options surely???? other than that i haven't got a clue and its bugging the Censored out of me!!!!!!
Thanks for your previous reply

I'm guessing of you're handy with a soldering iron then you could possibly splice into the passenger side brake light cable.

This of course still assumes that the connector itself is in good order and not the problem. 2006 RRS HSE 2.7 TDV6 (The Baby one as I keep being told)
