Had the battery light come on (recent new battery and no cranking issues) so presume a dodgy alternator. Upon driving the light was intermittent on and off and now permanently on.
Quick call to local Auto Electrician indicates there are two alternator options listed for my RRS 2006 so they need a number to reference. Yeah right, like that's easy to get without removing the part.
So my question is can the VIN indicate anything or are the two options visibly different?
Secondly, looking at the pulleys it looks like brown water has made its way (at some point) onto them as the surface looks stained . Any thoughts?
Incidentally, volt check (unstarted) is 12.54v and (engine at idle) 13.19
Sounds like dead alternator to me?
Any ideas on cost to be replaced? Usual auto electrician has never done RRS so don't wanna pay for their learning curve!

UPDATE: Managed to get some access and find it's a Denso YLE500200 - general feeling best to replace like for like?
