Power tailgate

Hi all I have a 2012 RRS when you open the tailgate via the remote fob the tailgate will only open about 6” then when the remote is pressed again it opens up fully any suggestions I’ve replaced the remote battery but it’s still not working correctly

Manually position the tailgate where you want it when open, hold it, then press and hold the button on the tailgate until you here a "beep" from the car, job done.
