I've only seen Schipol airport with so quiet one time before yesterday - on 23rd Dec last year when I flew back from Denmark! Apparently both the Dutch and German Rail systems were bought to a standstill because of power cables falling down or tress falling on them.........
Certainly while we were sitting in the 747 waiting to back out from the stand last night it was being buffeted around - the wing ends were flexing a huge amount and we weren't even off the ground and the plane felt like it was alreaady rolling along the runway! Once we had taken off though,we had a lovely smooth flight all the way. Flight from Glasgow to Schipol yesterday was not at all nice - we had 3 goes at landing but the pilot aborted them, got down on the 4th attempt. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Here's a windy landing at the scariest approach of them all... Kai Tak. Did you ever fly into HK when this was still an airport, Tim? I flew in there once... interesting to say the least!! Shocked

Never did unfortunately, but it's quite exciting being on a ship navigating the Ma Wan Channel through on the NW side of the new bridge as the flightpath follows the main shipping channel and they are only about 100feet above the ship on final approach!

BTW, as you can probably guess I cannot sleep - it's 11pm here and I join the ship at 7am tomorrow............. here's hoping the next fight in from Schipol is on schedule (10am touchdown) and my bag makes it to the ship before we sail
at 4pm!

Note to self....................... never again pack your mobile phone charger in your main luggage Shocked and make sure the phone is FULLY charged before leaving home! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

power restored today at 4pm - over 54 hours without electricity is awful

regarding Central Networks, the guys doing the work are stars, however I'm not impressed with the companies approach to events like this in there call centres - was promised call backs yesterday which failed to materialise plus called this morning - on hold for over an hour only to be told they (I quote) 'Wont give updates unless we have children or are elderly' - what a pile of crap - it seems they have no contigency for these types of events - unbelievable

House is now warming up Very Happy

they wont pay up - but our insurance covers freezer in case of power loss - have two freezers and wife estimates we lost about £200 worth of food so definetely worth claiming
