Can anyone tell me if my windscreen (see photo below) gives UV protection.

Most self darkening sun glasses will not work with any windscreen - it is a function of all glass that it absorbs the relevant UV band that also darkens the sunglasses.

I'm thinking of ordering "XtrActive" lenses that are described as darkening behind UV protective screens.

Clear autoglass (side windows) blocks about 97% of the UVB radiation and about 37% of UVA radiation. Laminated windscreens block all of the UVB radiation and about 80% of the UVA radiation. Source:http://www.cancer.org.au/news/blog/prevention/window-tinting-and-sun-protection-does-darkening-your-windows-make-you-safe-from-uv-rays.html In Aust the one thing we do know about is UV radiation - it is a pity that Brit car makers did not know more about it as my RRS is certainly not UV stable as evidenced by the paint on the roof and the plastic head lamps going crazy. 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |

Both my son and daughter have the "XtrActive" lenses and they do work in the car. |
