Mis ' placed ' wing mirror and odd wire

Hi
Was having a look around my car today and noticed that my right hand side wing mirror looked a bit odd as if someone has smacked into it. It doesn't look cracked or damaged in any way, but the mirror seems to be more 'out of' the main unit than what looks normal. also noticed a loose cable? Any ideas on what it might be? As far as i can see the wing mirrors don't dip when reverse is selected.

image are correct way on laptop but rotate when uploaded.

Definitely doesn't look right and does look "knocked out" if you get my drift.
Plenty of RRS around or even at any LR dealers, have a look and you will see.
I cannot see the "mirror glass" but replacement mirrors aren't cheap that's for sure.
When reverse is selected both mirrors should move/dip down giving you a better view. Damage could have caused something, but I have no idea other than taking glass out and checking wiring. Sure some member will advise further shortly.

Just seen you are not in uk, so may not be quite as easy to look at others. Crying or Very sad John

On the 2008 RRS the dipping wing mirror is an option (Y or N) selectable from the settings menu I think Robin

Thanks. there are actually a fair few RRS around but i don't actually know anyone who has one. It's due a service in a month so will get it looked at then. Unfortunately i have no place to tinkle with the car and it's -18 degrees today. so lots of jobs have to wait until the summer. assuming its not raining.

So, a reasonably warm morning at -8. the odd wire was as i suspected was a wire that should have been attached to the heating element. However in finding this out i took the mirror off. Only to find that the previous owner had done something similar and broken the 2 top retaining clips. and teh mirror was attached with silicone glue. Something i've now had to try and re-fabricate...... 2019 RRS P400e Autobiography

I read somewhere that the actual (wing) side mirror attached to the door for viewing the rear from the drivers seat. mirror glass was an expensive replacement..?

Is this a viable option; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-SPOR...SwEK9TsgHa
as i'm not sure the silicon glue will work in such cold weather (meaning it won't bond and set)

Where do you guys get your wing mirrors from?
They haven't been on any production car since the early 70's from what I know? All on the doors now... You can't see the eyes of the demon until him come callin'
