FBH update

ok so today my local garage unlocked my FBH and they said it had locked out on low voltage which i had kind of guessed anyway, my battery has been replaced so just have to see if it locks out again.

So,are you saying that the fbh will not just shut off if it detects low voltage but actually prevents itself from starting again until unlocked by the garage? Robin

after 3 attempts it locks out, i had my alternator go down a little while back I'm hoping it all locked out then I've put a new battery on so just have to keep watch. can't see why it wouldn't try to start after the vehicle is running and alternator is charging

Hmm. I didn't know that. It seems a bit strange but some LR developer obviously thought its better to have no fbh but enough battery to start the car. However as you say once it's running, what's the problem?
Oh well - good to know!

If your passing a Lidl in the near future, it might be worth investing £3 in their battery and alternator tester. Not sure how good it is for that money, but might give you peace of mind to test your alternator? And, no I do not have any connection with Lidl! Smile Robin

They dont lock out because of low voltage, if the battery is low they just wont start. What will lock them out is low fuel, if you have less than a 1/4 tank it will not run, it goes in to lock out mode to save fuel after three failed starts.
Some cars can be reset by removing the fuse, but not all, others need a diagnostic tool to reset the FBH.

Less than 1/4 of tank oh right I thought low fuel was meant by if the light was on, when Bodsy unlocked first time is was because of low fuel this time the garage said it was locked out due to low voltage ???

How does the regular Joe know if his FBH has locked itself into cryostasis?

Mine was working the other day and I was just over reserve, so not sure about this not working under 1/4 tank. 2012 RRS SDV6
