Retrofit incontrol pro into a my16 ab

Is this possible? Just been to the dealership and seen the my17, only significant change being the entertainment unit hardware and the dash which is likely to be software.

As the unit is likely to be self contained with just an additional hdmi lead, I guessing that if you could find a unit, it should be possible to swap it in, anyone know? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

I thought that the screen for 2017MY had grown from 8" to 10"? It is probably possible but at what cost, is it really worth it? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The screen is 10" in MY17 cars, I bet it can be done, but it wouldn't be easy.

I think the Sport is such a good all-round car, I wouldn't have cared if the in-control system was still the same when I ordered mine, the system in my Disco 4 is so slow I hardly bother with it, but the car is still great, my Porsche 997's system is a complete waste of time, but the car is a joy to own and drive. But all to their own.

You're right the screen is now 10", but I think the overall size of the cutout in the dash is the same as they have just removed the soft touch physical buttons from the sides of the 8" and they are now within the software.

As a MY16 AB is fortunate enough to have a the Incontrol stuff built in, it kind of seems likely that with the exception of running an HDMI cable from the back of unit to the centre cubby hole, all the connections are already there, just requiring a head unit change to add PRO bit.

Would be nice to know definitively , although one would guess that price of a head unit if it could be sourced would probably not make it worthwhile, especially up against the cost of just using something like an ipad mini in a very slim dvd slot mount. Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Physical connections are not the problem, it is the car config systems that really is. Unless you are very (very!) knowledgeable about the specialist software involved, it is a real "no go" area.

Get it wrong and you end up with a "dead" car, it has been done. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

In £ I think you will be looking in upwards of £3000 for something like this to be carried out...
