Aux Driving Light Pod Thingy

Has anyone got one of these and what are your feelings on it? Slightly questionable as to whether or not its fugly but more intrigued as to function over form.

Existing fogs work well, so I imagine these will be similar but what about the driving lights? Would be nice to have a bit more range on the roads I'm currently driving. What bulbs do the driving lights take? Maybe "upgrade" them to LEDs which, as mentioned in another thread, will benefit from the beam focus.

Lastly, fitting... How long did it take and any particular problems encountered? I've read the Topix and it looks hideously longwinded & tedious...

By driving lights do you mean DRL or dipped main beams ?

If you're talking about your dipped beams it depends if you have bi-xenon or bi-halogen headlights.

If you've got the xenons fitted then I doubt that you would gain much by replacing them with LEDs as the standard output for a d2s bulb is 3200 lumens.

If you've got halogens fitted then it depends on what you want to spend, retrofitting xenons will cost more (if you fit LR standard ones) but will provide better results in the long run. Upgrading them to LED would be ok (depends on the diode placement how well they will focus in the projector housing) but in my experience LEDs are hit and miss, they either last for ever (as they should) or die after a few weeks/months. So having them fitted as your dipped beams could become an expensive pastime until you find a decent manufacturer. I certainly wouldn't trust them as my main light source.

No idea what you mean by the driving light pod, maybe take a pic Thumbs Up

If you are looking for a complete kit I have one unused in my loft - I bought it from a member here but ended up getting a set fitted by a dealership as it took so long for the seller to get them to me, not because it might have been difficult to do................ I found them really useful on my 2007 TDv8. The set I have spare utilize the fog lights already fitted in the front bumper so I suspect the set that is on eBay that you link to might be for an S version RRS which didn't have fog lights as standard so it has double lamp units in the box. If you already have the front fogs then the kit I have has only the sealed lamp units for the driving lights.

Without them

I think that kit is for vehicles with fog lights fitted. I've got the same kit in the garage but never fitted it as it looks a pig to do. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
