Just thought I'd share an experience with you all.

Bought a 2011 RRS 3.0 TDV6 earlier this year with full LR warranty.

In June I had the red triangle warning lamp come on with the restricted performance message as well.

Anyway, called out LR assistance and took car to LR garage but they wouldn't look at it as they could not replicate the fault.

So fault comes back again in July with avengence on every trip so back to the garage again.

After much fault finding they decided it was the DPF and wanted to charge me firstly nearly £3K to fix it but they managed to discount this down to £2600 ish. The DPF isn't covered by warranty (that's true - its explicitly excluded)

After a quick check on consumer rights act I told them that as it was less than 6 months since purchase I was entitled to a free repair and they were being reported to trading standards, the ball is in your court.

4 hours later - they called back - they will fix it for no charge to me.

Stick to your guns - especially when you know you are right !!!

Why couldn't the dealer do that in the first place? There's always someone who's trying to benefit at someone else's expense. Whatever happened to good old fashioned courtesy and good service? I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

when I picked the car up today I was still given the speil about LR and dealer generosity.

My reply - it's the law........

I'm hugely disappointed with dealers of all kinds who try to wriggle out of their legal and moral responsibilities.

But know your rights and you are on the right level for dealing with these people - on this occasion I went for the legal jugular straight away - no discussions, no debate - job done.
