In that Ft Lauderdale pic.................. wonder why the crew didn't try to anchor the boat, it must have had at least 1 anchor!
Reminds me of a distress conversation that I overheard on VHF a number of years ago.
We were steaming from the Cape Cod Canal down through Long Island Sound towards New York when I heard the US Coast Guard talking with the owner of a 65ft sailboat which had a broken engine and needed to be rescued. The coastguard had looked up the boat's data on their computer and came back and asked the person on the radio to sail the boat back to the nearest harbour as it was a sailboat. After a moment of silence the yacht person replied that could the coastguard tell them how to sail as they didn't know how to............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim Ft Lauderdale incident was after Miami boat show with inexperienced crew !

A few years ago in the British Virgin Islands heard a mayday from an American sail boat -

Cruiser - mayday we are caught in a whirlpool and keep going round in circles.
US coast guard from St Thomas - calm down and walk to the front of the boat and then come back to the radio.
Cruiser - Done that
Coast guard - Is your anchor still down
Cruiser - Yes
Coast guard - Suggest you raise it bofore trying to leave the anchorage.

An 'acquaintance' was delivering this vessel from Bahamas to Ft lauderdale a couple of years back. Fell asleep at the wheel and left it on autopilot.

Woke up a couple of hunder yards from the entrance - another muppet

Following pic of a brand new $10 mil yacht came into marina to fast - hit three other $10 mil yachts and became entangled with the bows.

Oh I do miss naval exercises with the Yanks.

This type of thing happens alot more often then people would imagine. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
