I'm less happy with the scarily similar rat-a-tat noise that seems to come from the front drivers wheel of my RRS, however.

I am a complete newbie to Range Rovers, and to the forum - but I have had a look around at some of the 'knocking noise' posts...I assume that this is the same issue (?!).

I wound the window down on a nice summer day, and heard the rat-a-tat/knocking sound when I braked. The steering wheel also judders when braking - I'm not sure if the two things are related. My current preferred option is to drive with the windows up so that I can't hear the noise...

Should I be worried? Vehicle is 2011 with 40k miles and full dealer history.

Sounds like a warped disc.

Wheels and brakes are safety critical areas, get this into a LR dealer or independent that works on these specialist vehicles.
I and other members would hate to hear of anything serious happening to another member through not checking out any faults.
Closing the window, so you don't hear the fault, is never a very sensible idea, (even on cheap and cheerful cars).  John
