RRS 2012 random juddering then cutting out??

Purchased my 2012 RRS two months back. On several occasions now it has randomly juddered while driving and then the engine has cut off! It has done this at various speeds. Been back into the garage I bought it from but they can't seem to diagnose it. Once it's cut out it re starts again and drives perfectly......until the glitch strikes again!! Land Rover in Doncaster diagnosed it as a crank Shaft position sensor but the garage I bought it from insist it isn't that. Any ideas?

Hi Joe,

I had exactly this problem on the same model year car. It's quite scary when your car turns off on the motorway. In my case they replaced the Crankshaft position sensor and everything was fine aftewards.

Richard

Well garage I purchased the vehicle from has agreed to change the crank Shaft position sensor. I rang Land Rover and they quoted over £1300 to do the job....hence the dealer messing about trying every other option first. It's going in Monday for the work doing so hopefully will be able to start enjoying my Range Rover. Fingers crossed this will sort the problem. Will let forum know if this fixes the problem.

Thanks for your input Richard.....feeling more confident now after hearing your experience. Was dreading them doing the work and still not fixing the problem!

It's currently under warranty from garage of purchase but will take a warranty out myself once this finishes. I have had warranty direct recommended by a few people now. Is it possible to get a warranty through land rover? The vehicle is only just three years old last September and has full Land Rover service history?

Enter you details into here

https://landrover-extendedwarranty-extend-...-details-1

It gives you a quote if the vehicle is still within its manufacturers warranty period, not sure what happens if it isn't
