Tunit are very local to me, Had one on my prvious X5 but went for turbochips this time round, IMO turbochips do seem better as it is a proper ecu remap and not a forced pressure boost box. Its out there somewhere. Second V10 Treg on the drive at the moment.

Perhaps you'd like to ask Tunit what their device actually does?

From my understanding it simply raises the common rail fuel pressure and forces more fuel past each injector as it opens. Essentially the car is subject to continual over fuelling with the injectors being 'forced' to flow more fuel and the engine ecu is not aware of what is happening.

The TC conversion involves the modification of injector timing, boost pressure, fuel pressure, torque limiters and throttle sensitivity....you dont get that in a 'plug in' box!

I appreciate the concerns over warranty but I can assure all forum members that they must be prepared to remove the Tunit before dealer servicing and before LR assist arrive if the car devlops a fault (unrelated or not).

You mentioned it took 45 mins to fit...what about removal?

Lets hope the car doesnt breakdown on the side of the M6 on a freezing cold night and you need to remove the unit before the LR Assit vehicle arrives?

On a final note, the TC upgrade is completely undetectable to LR diagnostic tools and if it cannot be found it cannot affect your warranty.

We have tuned 143 TDV6 engines so far and 60 of them at Main LR Dealers

What is the cost of this turbo chip upgrade?

Has anybody got an independant evaluation of this upgrade? Kam, can you keep us updated on the Tunit box when you reach 8 and 9. Let us know if still happy, performance, mpg etc. The £75 discount sounds good.
Would members recomend any other mods for safe use of this extra oomph! Mine's a standard TDV6 with no extras apart from carpet mats that slide all over.

Tina..LROI magazine did a feature on our car in December last year...they could probably provide you with the info you want

(And no, we didnt pay for the feature unlike some advertisers in magazines!)

I really would like to hear from any forum members who have had the TurboChips upgrade to the Range Rover Sport and also follow OPs updates on Kam's Tunit box.

It may have come out in the December or January issue but it was big tuning feature where our Disco3 with the TDV6 was only beaten by a Supercharged P38 Range Rover.

We had a 0-60 time well under 10 seconds and we have tested the same mod in the RR Sport and we can get 0-60 in 8 seconds dead!

All the established tuners had a litle bit of 'egg on their face' as nobody knew who we were...but they do now

Am I missing something? The price of the TC re-map is displayed on the forum and we do not list prices for any vehicle on our website.

A 'plug in' box that only alters fuel pressure will never be as technically advanced or as safe when compared to an ecu re-map.....the ecu is not being fooled into thinking that the fuel pressure is lower than it really is and for me if a seal fails on the common rail running at 1800 bar then you really are leaving yourself wide open to serious safety issues under the bonnet.

NB The turbo pressue on most cars is only 0.5 to 1 bar.....so the diesel in a common rail fuel system is running at least 1600 times that pressure...scary stuff...why on earth would you want a device that increases that type of fuel pressure!

I'll ask again if you can find out from Tunit exactly what their plug in unit does so that forum members can make an informed choice.

Perhaps you could time how long it takes to remove the Tunit so we can have time trials before LR Assist turns up on the side of an unlit section of the M6 on a cold dark winters night

If you're going to scaremonger about warranty issues then I suggest you remove your tunit unit as well because the ecu is very clever at recording when the power to the common rail is disconnected and logging it in the ecu.....you pays your price and takes your choice

I wasn't trying to scaremonger anything, i was just explaning it as i saw it i.e the warranty issue.

Even though I drive the supercharged I have been reading this thread with some amusement and would tend to agree with Kam100 that it would be a good idea to get not just Tunit but several diesel tuners to explain in detail what their products can do for the RRS .......... so come on if your out there?
