I've decided to move my car on but having done a few "value my car" checks I need to seriously consider a private sale.

Being a highly desirable car, I'm looking for your expertise and experience for selling privately, avoiding scams and people who seem to get off on wasting other peoples time! I would use Autotrader as that by far has the best readership.

In case anyone is interested its a 2012 SDV6 Autobiography with nearly all options ticked, I don't have lane assist or blind spot notifications but its got the rest. Last Service last month with 46k miles. MOT til July. Balance of warranty (14 months remaining) on it.

Again as other posts - wide scale between the £32800 offered by dealer to the suggested private sale of around £36-38k!

I'm not entirely sure what I'll get but going to buy a small automatic that my learner driver wife can also drive for a short period of time then see what happens in 6 months..

Your help would be appreciated.

I have a black 2012 autobiography with 27k and the p/x prices I am receiving are £36000 - £36500 . I can't bring myself to put it on autotrader and have a host of chancers offering me next to nothing for it . I would say the dealers seem keen to have it for their own stock . I would add the dealers would put on their forecourt for around £40000.

My main concern is that someone will end up nicking the car! I've sold a few cars privately about 10 years ago, which had finance on and the payment was made to the finance company in that case and it was straight forward. But its the test drive bit!

It appears the dealers will add approx £5k when they sell it on..

I did a Glasses valuation last night and the figures are as follows:-

Trade in £36540
Dealer Retail £40370
Private Sale £38870

Any idea what the dealers use - I thought it was Glasses..

We buy any car offered me £29k - they can just get lost!

Most dealers use cap as a guide but land rover, i believe have an online valuation service . I not sticking up for the dealers but they will put a two yaer warranyt on every car they sell which cost them a few quid but makes the car more attractive to a buyer. Some guys on here have had results by selling to Wimbledon 4x4
