Hi Guys a long shot

I bought a 2010 RR Sport a few months ago and I thought that the wheels needed balancing after feeling the steering wheel wobble at around 50-70 mph.

I took the RR in and had the wheels balanced and the tracking checked and all put right. After about one month it felt like the balance was out again so i took it to a different garage who seemed to know exactly what he was doing and explained in great detail about different ways of balancing the wheels.

About 100 miles later driving up the M1 doing about 65-70mph it started again but over the next 100 miles on the motorway got worse and sounded more like a knocking. This lasted for about 20 minutes before it seemed to clear totally. I now isn't feeling like the wheels are unbalanced anymore.

Could this be something other than the wheels need balancing kind of problem.

The RR has done 38000 miles and is on the original 19" alloy rims

If it comes and goes like that I'd suspect a binding front brake caliper. My old WJ Jeep did that once - really quite alarming shaking that started suddenly and it was a binding brake. The fix is new or rebuilt calipers.

Feel the front wheels and see if one is much hotter. Don't touch the discs though - you might burn your hand. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I currently have the same issue and have found rear offside wheel was extremely hot, did not dare touch the disc the heat coming off it was enough to let me know there is an issue

Don't have any luck with rear brakes, Had new full rear calipers, discs and pads done in summer, had it back in since to replace one of the calipers that was faulty. Will have to bring it back in again - not amused!

Hi Rrsnut had same issue on my old D3 problem wasn't the Calipars but the handbrake shoes which had sieved, new shoes and correctly adjusted job done. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

One thing that has come up a few times on here was water inside the tyre. Don't know how it got in there (water in garage air pressure tyre inflator?) but can give similar issues of intermittent wheel imbalance.
Worth a thought.
