cheers for your help. Does it significantly reduce the warranty then? Are they likely to blame any future problems on the chip?

I'd imagine if you had any engine related problems, the fact that the engine has basically been modified means LR cant actually trouble shoot the exact problem and hence would say the fault is down to the chip. I think this would be a reasonable stance from LR too - I am exactly the same if someone modifies our systems and then expects us to fix a related problem FOC

A lot of Dealerships now offer the same chipping service. If you have it done by the dealership it shouldn't effect your warranty. After all they wouldn't have a legal leg to stand on if they carried out any work on your vehicle that nulified your warranty. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. That's if they log it in your service book, if you didn't know that the car was chipped because you bought it secondhand and was'nt informed by the last owner or dealer, how can L/R tell. some of my Previous cars

Your vehicle's history is kept electronically. Any LR dealership in the country/world can access the database and see what has or hasn't been done to your vehicle.

That's how they also know if your vehicle is an import which effects your part ex price when negotiating a new vehicle. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. In essence all tuners; good or bad, rely on the fact that the dealer will never discover the upgrade during routine servicing or 'minor' warranty work.

And at the end of the day it is your choice to upgrade your car or not and as long as your comfortable with that responsibility then I think you'll enjoy your 'chip' whoever you choose to install it Smile

Alledgedly LR are trying to produce software that tells them you have done it.
But lets face it, If they ever take your car out for a test drive they are going to know straight away because the difference is really good Thumbs Up TDV6 - gone

Personally if I had problems that might have something do to with a chip I doubt I would give LR the satisfaction of saying "told you so". I would go to a good engineering company like JE to get it fixed. LR would never know Wink TDV6 - gone

The reduction in fuel consumption comes from the reduced use of higher rpm, which is made possible by the greater torque between 1,600 and 3,000 rpm reducing the need to change down or kick down the gears.

This also makes for a more relaxing driving experience on a long trip.

This benefit is more readily used on the open road than in the city.

We have many customers reporting improveemnts of around 7-8%, but some customers who regularly tow heavy trailers have seen greater benefits (15 to 20%) when towing. Obviously when towing you are even more likely to use higer rpm, so there is more scope for mpg improvement. Very Happy
