Letters

Hello folks please can I ask an opinion. Before I do I know I know am being really petty and should get myself some real problems, I do feel a bit pathetic raising it but this car cost me a lot and I don't think I should have to make do this early in my ownership.

I had LR put black letters on my new AB prior to its delivery. I wish I had just gone ahead with my original plan and done it myself but I assumed they'd be done properly for the extra cost. When it came, the letters looked like a kid had put them on.

Car went back last week. They took two days to allegedly fix it. As soon as I saw it on collection last night it didn't look right and once I got it home I compared to two other RRSs on my road. Mine are the black one in the photos below. They are arranged like a V, right? They don't flatten out in the middle like the others.

Sorry to be so petty but before I go ranting at the garage I'd like to know if I'm being unreasonable.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Sumatra Black

Probably missing something, but they seem the same to me.

A little difficult to overlay properly as the perspective is different, but:

If your not happy and you think they can be put on slightly better then take it back . I know exactly what you mean as my spot badge had a floppy T at handover so I pointed out that it was not right and were they hoping I would not notice. Lots of excuses from the sales man a new bags was ordered and applied when the car was detailed by a competent person.

Tend to agree with you re the smile..just checked mine and the base of the letters are all the same distance from the lip of the bonnet and the vertical of each letter is at right angles to the lip.. do the measurements and I bet you get you will get inconsistent results. Then pass details to the garage and advise them to sort it out. P400e HSE Portofino Blue and Ivory Seats.. it's like a yacht!!

I'm fairly sure Solihull use templates for positioning, no reason to expect the dealer not to do the same

Doesn't look quite right.....

These are mine put on by my detailer ... although it could just be an optical illusion....

try and get a length of beading and run it from R to R ... that should show if there's any 'smile'

It doesn't look right to me although I cannot see how anybody could do it freehand - so presumably they didn't apply the template properly.

Go back if you are not happy, it does not matter how much money is involved. To repeat a general point I have made elsewhere in this forum : we get the quality and reliability we deserve in this country as the British culture is more inclined to shrugging our shoulders and saying 'oh well...' when problems occur. If we allow companies to trade on that apathy they will carry on doing so until they get a message...

Here are pics of the 2 RRS in my local dealers showroom this morning. As somebody already said the gap between the bottom of the lettering and the bottom edge of the bonnet lid should be consistent as appears to be the the case here.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

When you see them being put on on the production line they use a template that fits on the bonnet edge or sides like putting a transfer on. The same system is used by the online suppliers like Powerful. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Go back they look terrible! My black letters were also fitted before delivery by the supplying dealers body shop using a template. I think your salesman may have had a go at this himself! Laughing
