Wireless Broadband

Any one got any experience of this Question

Did have B/Band with BT with at least 1Gb speed. Now I've changed to BT's Toatal B/Band and gone wireless which has left me with 864Kbps Downstream and 448Kbps Upstream.

Any one know if I should be expecting more Question I am bashing BT about it, just not getting anywhere fast Exclamation TDV6 - gone

Bt's Total Broadband up to 8Mb (the advert says).

I think the max they could offer me was 1.5mb. Which I'm not near yet.

Though started off with 234Kbps Exclamation So it has got better.......But Exclamation TDV6 - gone

I'm on Tiscali's 1Mb broadband at the moment (free upgrade to their 8MB in January Cool ). I'm also using a wireless router and the stats are as follows for the 1Mb link.

Downstream 1152 kbps
Upstream 288kbps.

Mine is slow too, the home hub router was crap and it took them a week to tell me it was a router problem, by which time I had gone out and bought a netgear one. Mine is slow though because of the distance from the exchange.

being far away from the exchange is not always the issue - my home is just over 1 mile from the exchange and I get over 6000kbps from an 8Mb account via Plusnet

Yes, this is the problem if you want to call it that with ADSL whoever you get it from - it's all distance dependent. This is why all ADSL products say "up to" a particular speed. If you are over a certain distance away from the exchange you'll never get the maximum quoted speed.... this isn't BT pulling a fast one, just the way the technology works.

Also, since BT have been doing the upgrade work on all the exchanges to make them support the new higher speeds, I believe once you've been ported to your new product you will need to switch your router on and off a few times over a period of days to have the exchange settle on your optimum speed. I don't really do telecoms anymore so I don't have the minute detail for you, I'm afraid.

Your route will start to resync at various speeds after about 15 days of being on an ADSL MAX line. A system in BT will will monitor the connection and the error level and after a while you will get the fastest connection that is stable based on this information.

I was stuck at a lower speed for two weeks, then had two weeks of syncing before I finally sync at about 7000 kbs.

We have 40 ADSL MAX users at my work - all have experienced the same. RRS TDV8 HSE - Hybrid TV - Sunroof - Adaptive Front Headlights - Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 system
