Low fuel - audible warning?

I've only had my RRS for about three weeks but I've nearly been caught out a couple of times by the low fuel warning, or lack of it. In my previous car (BMW) there was an audible chime that went off when you went below 76 miles of range and another at about 30 miles. The RRs only seems to have a visual warning and that come son much later, at about 20 smething miles. Is this correct? Maybe the angle of the steering wheel stopped me noticing the visual warning earlier.

It also used to be that the satnav screen would change to show you the nearest forecourt on the database when the level got below about 10ltr, has this function been discontinued in newer cars? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

My 2006 SC does sound the bell when fuel reserve is reached. Maybe it's configurable? Paging Bodsy[/b & [b]Disco_Mikey]! Smile Regards etc.,

Maybe it does do that, but it took me less than three weeks to work out that the satnav was utterly useless so i don't actually use it anymore.

Foxtrot, please fill in your profile correctly, then we will know which model of sport you have. Thumbs Up Which will also help us answer questions you may have further down the line. Wink
Answer to your question, my 2012 & my 2006 sport used to bong at around 60 miles to empty, and everytime i started the engine with a message on the dash reminding me of low fuel.

I read somewhere on here that keeping the tank relatively full was good practice as the fuel cools the fuel pump. Not sure if I'm right in this but I now strive to keep the needle above half.

When you go to fuel station, do you fill up every time or just put an amount in? If the latter, just use the top 2 thirds of the tank then low fuel will never come on..... 5.0 Ltr Superchrged RRS2, Chile Red, Sideways out of junctions!
TDV8 HST Stornaway on a 08.. remapped.. now gone and replaced, was a mighty fine car..
4.2 SC First Edition when they first came out, quick car!
