Since changing a rear wheel on my Sport the suspension pump seems to run for a while everytime I start and when I lower and raise the car.

The air compressor is supposed to run as you describe.

Thanks garrycol, it was indeed the rear passenger wheel, I thought I had put the jack in the correct place as it had a small hole in which to locate the jack, although it did make a clonk noise and I gave up with the jack.

Were you using the OE jack? If so, DON'T if you value your limbs... |

How did I know? A couple of years back I did exactly the same thing - had a flat rear passenger tyre and in my rush put the jack under the air compressor - yes there is a hole like the one in the chassis. The compressor was ok but the mount got shattered and had to be replaced. Like you, I could never hear the air compressor run but after the jacking incident it was audible - even with a new bracket I still hear it running. garry 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |

It seems like a poor design not making it clear where the Jacking point is, especially as it very difficult to see under the car anyway.

Garage checked it out this morning, looks like no damage to compressor but needs new case and bracket.

Case should be alright - might just need a clean out. new bracket is cheap and if you know what your doing installation not such an issue - however if you haven't done it before the out of the way position of the mounting bolts can be a bit taxing.
