USA Range Rover prices - SVR for £72,500!

Just got back from two weeks in Miami and then LA. Whilst out there I happened to be driving past a Land Rover dealer so decided to pop in for a chat. They had a new SVR ready for delivery so got talking about prices and was absolutely shocked to learn that the list price for that specific car was $112,500 which equates to around £72,500!!! A base level HSE can be ordered for $66,000 (£42,500) and an Autobiography V8 for $90,000 (£58,000)!!!!! Shocked

Rip of britain or bargain USA!? These cars are built here so why so why are we paying so much more Shocked

An evoque autobiography is a meagre £32k there too!

So stop buying them in yhe UK and perhaps LR will adjust their prices to up demand... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Never had the time to go into a dealership myself but discussions with friends and colleagues suggest that every car is much much cheaper over there.

The other thing to remember is that in the States the prices almost always do NOT include tax. I am not sure if this is the case for cars too but it is for everything else. Their sales tax is much lower than our VAT though (e.g. only 8.75% in NY). Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

And they are often much lower spec so no TFT dash etc.

But they are much cheaper and fuel is hugely cheaper even now. Even the parking spaces are bigger! MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

Agree that VAT and road tax is an issue in the UK and that US price does not include any sales tax.

Then you have exchange rates which just happen to be favourable right now. If the exchange rate was 1.42 instead of 1.55 then it would be the same price as UK before tax. The Americas is also a massive [LHD] drive market, so the cost of doing business is probably low per unit.

Equipment levels are often different as Dave777 says. It would be interesting to do a full comparison on that. Perhaps.

And, also a small dose of rip off Britain too - Land Rover will charge whatever the market will bear and us mugs pay it! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Are you referring to the GBP/USD exchange rate? In which case a rate of 1.4200 would imply a weaker sterling and cheaper exports, and probably an even cheaper SVR to the end customer in the USA. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

Yes, I was referring to GBP / USD particularly in the context of consumer price comparison.

Manufacturers will typically hedge against FX swings to smooth the impact of changes, so the price in the U.S. would be unlikely to change in the near term (maybe for next model year). L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I was going to say I was jealous of how in the UK you have many more options and can order them one by one instead of being forced to buy packages as in the US. Also you guys can get wade sensing, dual view screens, and the alcantara headliner, not to mention many more engine and trim line options. Best of all you don't have to wait for the vehicle to travel across the Atlantic Mr. Green.

However, no question the prices here are better which I will not complain about. The MSRP do not include usually delivery ($995), tax which usually is 3-6%, and various fees usually adding up to another $600 or so (documentation, title, license plate fees, etc). 2016 SCV8 Dynamic - Firenze Red/Pimento

That's a real good deal Exclamation

Over here the price based on current exchange rates is between GBP105-115k Shocked

But then most of the drivers are the locals... not the expats.

Can't comment on the spec, however, usually the Gulf spec is fully loaded with everything except for the winter/ cold climate options Wink
