Broken Down

So I broke down tonight.

Pulled into a petrol station, grabbed some milk, back out to the car.

Strange, it won't start.

Look at the dash and lots of warnings come up. Gearbox fault, (which I forgot to photograph) stability control fault etc.

Pics below.

Got on the blower to LR Assist who advise to reset by getting out, locking it and then trying again.

It sorted it out but they still wanted to send LR Assist out to which I agreed.

Call back 20 mins later to say they can only send AA who won't be able to do anything as the lights have disappeared.

LR assist are now coming to my work in the morning (assuming the car makes it)

Anyone have any ideas?

Similar happened on a previous RRS-1 - happened once and never again. Put down to an electrical/battery glitch.

My Maserati Granturismo S sometimes does similar - lights on dash and weird behaviour! It's usually battery related - a full charge on a trickle charger sorts it all out. I am guessing your battery had a low charge to cause something like this.

Thanks guys!

No chance that battery had a low charge, this was towards the end of a 200 mile drive yesterday.

Will let you know what LR Assist say, I'm sure you are correct that's it's a one off gremlin. It's just rather annoying 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography

Oh and of course my tracker would have made me aware of any battery issues Wink 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography

Well LR Assist are here with his funky laptop connected the OBD Port.

A full page came up with errors, only 4 from last night.

There are apparently 2 "U" errors which DO relate to voltage, it was reading 11v (requires 12.2v apparently) for the systems to work, however there were also 2 CANBUS errors which would suggest a short circuit in the wiring somewhere (apparently). He's now removing the spare wheel to take a look at the battery.

In addition to that there is an issue with the transmission which is not related to voltage, he's got an update which he is apparently going to run.

Incidentally there is an outstanding campaign listed for my car (guess by VIN) which is a fix for a door not latching (not a problem which I have had).

Will try and get code copies from him before he leaves and post them!

**UPDATE**

Well, he's left he performed the software update on the gearbox and TCM - apparently its a v.large one. He doesn't think that its going to solve the issue, however as we thought its prob just a gremlin.

Codes which I managed to grab were only the "u" codes, he didn't want me to have the others strangely:

U0402.92 GSM Invalid data received from transmission control module
U0592-00 - Invalid Data Received From Gear Shift Control Module/ Invalid Data Received From Powertrain Control Module

With the others relating to steering faults, seat faults, power transfer faults, can-bus short circuit faults I can imagine why he wouldn't want to share them. 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography

Ref the musty smell from the AC , I had this issue with my 2013 L494, purchased in Oct 2013. However, with in my end April 2015 RRS there is quite a pleasant aroma from the aircon...sort of pepperminty almost toothpaste smell. Whether something has changed I've no idea. Or maybe as I only did maybe 3000 miles during the winter of 2013 the filter had got damp even though I have the ac on permanently was a contributing factor is unknown. But now the cabin is a very pleasant place to be in , that still smells new rather than musty.

Dealer said there is a fix but it's a hell of a job as they need to remove the "stagnant water" and to do that they need to remove the entire dash and replace it as well as all the filters. 2 day job apparently 😳 2014.5 Mariana Black 5.0 Supercharged V8 Autobiography
