Front cigar lighter removal

Hi guys my front lighter seems to work as and when it feels like it so I must have a loose wire or something, but how do I remove lighter to check it?

Lighter sockets often suffer from debris and/or surface corrosion; (the former particularly if actually used to light cigars!).

Before you start pulling console apart, have you tried cleaning the contacts and then putting a multimeter across it? The central one is the most likely to be the problem. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

My one has never worked and light around the cigerette light does not come on either, think it might be a fuse issue, can anyone tell me were I can find this fuse? Isn't it strange how the most simple sounding questions can raise yet more questions?

The 2008 handbook lists passenger compartment fuse #55 for 'cigar lighter' but also #34 as 'auxiliary power socket front seats' . was that an option?

To get at the fuses you have to drop the lower glove box by pressing on the guide rails either side. Not sure how you dismantle the console but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
