Hi,

I was driving today and noticed much more black smoke than usual coming from my TDV8 RRS. The car then dropped in to limp home mode stating an engine system fault . I stopped and checked under the bonnet and noticed a thin smear of fresh oil over the left side of the front of the top of the fan cover at the front of the engine. I checked the oil and there was plenty and restarted the engine to see if I could see the leak? I couldn't but the engine fault had cleared so I cleaned the cover and continued my journey. About 100 miles later the car dropped in to limp home mode again so I stopped and checked under the bonnet. The oil was back but again only a relatively thin covering. Upon restarting the engine the fault had cleared and I got home

A couple of questions;

1. Could this be the the turbo hoses and if so would they cause the oil leak?
2. If not any ideas would be appreciated?

Yes it is a split turbo hose and both are being replaced tomorrow.
