"Dead" key battery (2005/2008 type one)

Hi

On my friend's 2.7L RRS, one of his key is completly dead as it has never been used.

Would simply putting it in the lock and clicking it one position 1 recharge it or is it dead for good?

Anyone knows if key batteries charge as soon as position 1 is reached or if the engine has to be running ?

tx

Tape it to the other key and go for a long drive. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I understand you mean with the dead one in the lock and the working one taped to it to ok the electronics, right?

Well how is the dead one going to recharge if it is not connected via the blade?

unless they do not charge via the blade but by induction???

They do indeed use the hall effect to charge. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

If you have an electric toothbrush.. put the toothbrush on charge and rest the key against it / the charging base.. I've found this worked for my old BMW E46 key in the past for a similar reason.

Cheers..
