sunroof water leak or poss alignment

Hi all, my 2005 rrs has a small leak and was curious if anybody has ever experienced the same or has any ideas what it might be, is it poss that the sunroof water drains are not coping with the amount of water entering the sunroof tray, reason i ask is i am getting water leaking in from my sunroof and the water is somehow coming out of the front interior light, both the front drain pipes are clear and are draining the same amount of water as being poured into them, the car is parked facind very slightly downhill and has only just started to do this in very heavy rain, any help much appreciated as it to near the electrics for my liking, also just noticed the sunroof is sitting slightly lower at the back than the front is sitting, is the sunroof adjustable or even could this cause the issue Big Cry thank

Exactly same thing happened to another car I have. It turned out the sunroof seal (the one that you can see from outside the car) had hardened and shrunk with age.

When it is in good condition this seal limits the amount of rainwater entering the drainage channel to an amount that the drains can cope with. When the seal deteriorates the amount of water entering the channel is too great for the drains to cope with and water overflows the channel finding its way along the headlining and out through the interior light.

The fix is a new sunroof seal. An easy job on my car because it is simple to remove the whole sunroof panel. Not so easy on the RRS. Probably best to ask a good trimming specialist. A friend of mine had this done on a sliding type sunroof and could hardly believe how little they charged him - about £50. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

noooo - don't take it to a garage - do it yourself!

I replaced ours as we had the exact same issue - heavy rain and the interior light cluster started dripping! Basically, remove the sunroof glass by undoing the 4 torx bolts (T25 IIRC) and then pop the glass out. The seal is easy peasy to replace and then reinstall the glass and align so it's flush with the roof.

No. More. Leaks. Every home should have one!

Technical bulletin LTB00034 refers to drain problems but I see that your car is an 06 plate and that there was an issue with glass sun roofs with a manufacture date prior to the 1st October 05. As has been said already, it is probably more a seal age problem as it has just started happening.
You will find the bulletin on Google, Thumbs Up 2.7 HSE, Audi A6 Exec, Honda Accord Exec, Volvo 440, Volvo 360

Thanks everyone, Yes it turned out to be the sunroof seal, due to age it has deteriorated or shrunk and allowing to much water for the drip trays to cope with hence water overflowing in heavy rain, does anyone know where the best place is to get a new sunroof seal as this was an aftermarket sunroof that was fitted before i purchased the vehicle, thanks folks Thumbs Up

I got mine (and a bunch of door seals) from Beadles. Good service and prices (even shipped across the planet!!)

I'm sure any of the forum sponsors on here will also do you a great deal. Every home should have one!
