I tow a caravan and had a look at the trail-air. I don't know how much it costs but I have a fully loaded AB with surround cameras so I think lining up to hook up will be pretty straight forward.

But - has anyone got it on the RRSport and does it have any other benefits (other than tyre pressure monitoring?).

if you have high beam assist then i read on Disco4 you'll loose that function, likewise if you have the homelink buttons as you'll need to replace the rear view mirror

the tyre pressure function is worth the money, when you consider the fact it could save you from a replacement of a tyre instead of a puncture repair since IIRC your air suspension can mask a flat tyre until its really flat and damaged beyond repair, and that goes for the caravan also but thats blown tyre could lead to a lot more damage

If its a twin axle you'll have to buy extra sensors,

If i was going to keep my current car for much longer i would have had it installed without doubt as i don't have any camera

The other slight issue is how reliable are the sensors, with them been inside the tyre, it's not going to be cheap if you need to replace any due to faults

Nick is quite right the kit involves replacing the interior mirror therefore any features in the standard mirror would be lost on installation ie Auto high beam assist, homelink . The mirror however is auto dimming electrochromic .

The system as well as offering the guide line to hitch also monitors tyre pressures of vehicle and tyre pressures and temperature of the trailer. There is obvious value in monitoring tyre pressures especially if you tow, by maintaining optimum pressures you optimise fuel economy and save tyre wear not to mention the peace of mind when towing. Pressures and temperature can be viewed at the press of a button or if you wish constantly displayed.

With regard to reliabilty - The sensors used are the market leader , LR have tested the sensor system in all conditions and
various types of trailers including horse boxes and caravans. We are able to monitor signal strength and part of our testing has been to ensure the signal strength is viable and consistant. The sensor life is around 100K miles / 10 years.

The installation for RRS is one of the simplest within the LR range and takes around an hour to install. Sensors can be fit to wheels for the same price as changing a vlve ie around £10 per wheel.
As you have a surround camera system fitted then I will leave it to you to decide ifthe benefit of TPMS for vehicle and trailer are sufficient for you to consider purchase.

I know I am bias but it really is a fabulous piece of kit

Blowout on the caravan a few years back it's something that's always on my mine, if I had a sensor would I have forwarning

Thanks for the comment - and yes - our system will give you a warning of a 10% reduction in pressure and will alert if trailer tyre temperature goes above our set level of 65% - these parameters are tighter than EU regulation but do give you the time and scope to take action before a catastrophe.

We don't always have the opportunity to speak directly with customers but from those that I have I am amazed how many
have had a tyre issue which TrailAir has given them early warning of.

Out of interest we designed the kit to be plug and play - which means you can transfer from one vehicle to another ( keep the original mirror !) - worth keeping in mind

I think you already have the answer on additional sensors but to clarify additional sensor with forum discount would be £18.71 plus small delivery charge. RRP is £23.10.

Regarding compatability between Freelander, RRS and Disco 4 : The major component parts of the system are common ie mirror, camera, receiver, ECU. The wiring harness is the same for Freelander and RRS but differs for Disco.
If you wanted to transfer kits between models the simplest would be to leave the harness in situ , buy a new harness but use the major components parts - all connectors etc are common. WE do not market component parts on our site currently but just give us a call and we can sort out. Harness price for example is £61.00 .

If you require a specific model by model detail please ask. Note Defender is not transferable to other models but is probably the easiest to transfer like for like.

sorry for late reply - took the children to centre parcs ! now need a rest.

Apologies we have no images of the camera location in RRS however it is fitted as the Freelander ie bumper location just above the panel access for electics. The view of the camera is as the Freelander and in fact the installation for RRS is the simplest of all models. The only difference between the freelander and RRS kit is the grommet which surrounds the camera.
This has been specially toolled to give the optimum tow ball viewing angle.

Freelander images can be viewed on our website ie home page video or on the product page click on further information and there are some images there also.

Is this system still available? I miss having TPMS and a reversing camera from my Jeep and this looks like a superb system and would look totally OEM once fitted...

However this 3 year old thread is the most recent that comes up when searching for "Trailair". The Trailair website says out of stock for the RRS version and also seems to have not been updated for a long time... no dealers are coming up within 200 miles of my location either.
