Scotland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black
GVIF, Iphone Mirroring and Reverse Camera

I've just purchased a GVIF and was wondering if anyone has successfully used it to screen mirror their iphone to their nav system?

This is the unit I've bought

http://www.hids4u.co.uk/Land-Rover-Discove...creen.html

I'm thinking of picking up one of these and fitting it through the AV connections on the GVIF

http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/catalog/cat...oC49jw_wcB

Am I barking up the wrong tree here, will this just send a audio video link from my phone I.e playing a movie file and not actually mirror my actual phone screen?

Any chaps tried this before? 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

Very Happy that's the one I purchased from Apple - it played certain videos from YouTube & I did pick up Itv & BBC player when I had a decent signal Thumbs Up it's not a lot to pay too add another mod to the GVIF but if I'm honest I never used it very much - but it does mirror your iPhone - or iPad Very Happy 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Cheers Peachy just what I wanted to hear. I've been looking at the TV units which I might do at some point in time, I'd like to get the headrest screens fitted first. Does anyone do bluray headrests? All I seem to find are dvd and all my disc collection are bluray! 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

Reverse camera

I am a bit confused by my reversing camera I got from HIDS4U, I have read I think every thread I can find on the subject including the 15 page one on the disco forum but I'm still lost, I understand I run the video cable from the GVIF unit to the camera but as you see on the pic I also have a red plug, I'm fairly certain its for power but there was only a yellow video cable supplied in the box! Am I to cut this plug off to expose the wires so I can connect it to my reversing light? Am I short a cable that has a plug to loose wires?

I have the 7.2 version of the GVIF

Cheers broncoupe, I done a bit more fishing online last night and I see other cams come with the cable I need so maybe it was just missing, I'll give the HIDS4U people a shout.

Out of interest mate how are you running the cabling in the sport, the only option I've seen is to tape it down the sealing edge of the split tail gate screen! 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

Cable does run along original in that metal tube wipe the painted surface with cleaner so grease free warm up some insulating
Tape and cover cable
Another alternative is you can get some small clips with adesive bases to hold the wire from maplins
Cable goes through original grommets and the 2 options down to rear near side quarter then forward or you can run the video cable through head lining forward

Cheers mate.

Another question if you don't mind, I assume if I want to be able to switch on the reverse camera when not in reverse I also have to run the grey power cable from the GVIF and tie in to the rear also? 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

If I remember right they trigger off the grey wire don't do the can connections
If you want the option of a picture at anytime the camera will need to be ignition live
You can get that from the power socket wiring on the nearside panel
The unit comes with a neat small switch to switch picture source

Forgot to say this is really important for everyone
I understand buying good value for money cameras for example but one area they skimp on is the quality of the cable
I'm not saying dont t buy value for money but be VERY aware of not pulling to hard on the cable while fitting
Seen several examples of the cable innerspring separating or the shielding failing and giving interference
So keep calm do not tug the cable
When going through the gromit use a piece of thin plastic tube to help thread plus provide strain relief on cable
I use beer line

So your grey wire is the one going right - to ignition. The one going left is your video, is the diode part of the car wiring? 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black
