My winter wheels are as good as new ... in black.... probably only done 1K miles , fortunately no tyres on as yet..

Im using C5 and EXOv2 treatment

BUT to prep them .. in my arsenal I currently have SURFEX HD... IRON X and Isopropyl

Which should I use in your esteemed opinion before I apply C5

Thx 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

A good wash, Iron X, another quick wash and a rinse and a wipe with ISO will prep them nicely.

It's usually late Jan you get a chuck down in the UK ... but nothing's predictable any more..

Dropping to minus 6 of an evening here already.... and a trip to the Alps planned soon so it's time to switch..

BTW.. I assume the above applies to painted rims

I'm wondering if you might want to also add in a tar remover into the process?
I guess as they are fairly new they should be tar free though Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

That would be my thinking too Smile
If you IronX, Surfex and Tardis them with an IPA wipedown, the C5 will bond effortlessly Thumbs Up ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Wow... that was a lot of hard work....

Only did all products on one wheel as they were spotless....

The Iron X didn't even change colour... So I de greased and Iso P'd the others .... Then C5 followed by C2V3 after curing time

Off to the Alps next week so those wheels will take a bashing !! see how they hold up

Reading this has made think I ought to go and have a look in the shed, I know I bought some Poor Boys Pink stuff a year or two back. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

SRE - go to the shed, find the pink Poorboys stuff, admire how you bought it for the colour and how it matches your pink fluffy slippers Whistle ......then stick it in the bin. Thumbs Up

Go online and get yourself either a heat resistant was/sealant, something like Finish Kare's 1000P, or one of the coatings from GTechniq, ArtdeShine, CQuartz etc.

Poorboys really is no match against any of the above Wink ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Great effort buddy.

When it comes to preperation for crystal lacquer protection or ceramic composite protection. The key is neither bond to polishes as you guys have demonstrated. When I completed a wheel removal deepclean on your summer wheels the processes are as follows:

Surfex HD inside and out including tyres. Left to dwell for 5 minutes then agitated with detailing brushes and rinsed @ 60'c

Same above (apart from tyres) but with bilberry wheel cleaner.

Same above but with iron x.

Then treated to Tardis and agitated with a clean, wet microfibre.

Air blow dried to dry wheel & tyre.

Full IPA wipedown to ensure clean surface.

Gtechniq C5 applied (crystal serum if your going super hardcore)

Residue remove with a very light buff with a clean microfibre.

Wheel then cured with a heat gun. (Or if you have a IR heater even better)

Then two coats of Gtechniq EXOv2. (If the EXOv2 is going over C5 leave it at least 6-8 hours before applying the EXOv2 over C5. If going over Crystal Serum, EXOv2 can be applied instantly after)

Tyre lip dressed in Gtechniq T1 and dry cured on using heat gun & your good to go!

Hope everyone's good here as I havn't been on for quite some time due to the work load but hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! Always clean.

Summer tyres went on today..... Those black ones are a mess....

I've cleaned them but they took a bashing this winter and need some TLC before they go back on next winter.....

The paint looks marred a bit... what do I do get the the gleam back..... Is it a deep polish.... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's
