Anyone had a TV8 remapped

Hi guys,

As it says, anyone had it done?
How does it com pair to a 4.2 SC in power delivery etc?

I have a jaguar XF 30 v6 S now that 275 BHP and 600 torque.
The TV8 mapped looked like 315 BHP and 725 tourque.

I know obviously the weight difference etc but how the RRS would perform against the XF after a remap?

The original 0-62 of the RRS standard is 8.6s and the XFS is 5.9 seconds.

I wounded how much improvement the RRS has mapped? 1s less 0-62?[/b]

Mines remapped. Properly quick. Sports car almost. I bought it like that so don't have details though. Only downside is a puff of smoke when you floor it. Thumbs Up Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

How does it compare to your previous 2.7?

I had mine remapped...much quicker than standard and comparable in delivery to the SC but you get better mpg...downside is the puff of black smoke on acceleration.... Gone but not forgotten, 2005 RRS SC first edition, BMW 2010 Z4,TVR Tamora, TVR Cerb, MERC SL 55 AMG, E46 M3, Z4, Jag S type R, Skyline R33 GTR 640 bhp, Evo FQ 400, L322 RR, X5, Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo, Lotus Elise 135r, Nissan Murano, Honda S2000, 911, Boxster s...and a few more

Mapped to 320 hp, I think the biggest difference is the 50-70 time, overtaking is simply awesome - by then you have overcome the weight issue and the torque just kicks in.

You won't be able to keep with the Jag from a standing start, simply too heavy, think more hot hatch pull away rather than what you get from something like the XF.

Interestingly mine doesn't smoke, has also taken away the suicide hesitation issue at roundabouts where you put your foot down and nothing happens for a split second - I always found that quite disconcerting if you were pulling out in heavy traffic. Much smoother delivery of power now.

Remember there are lots of different maps out there so do homework before you buy. TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s

They're worlds apart. I had a ch box on the 2.7 which definitely improved it. A remapped tdv8 is another level though. Power at all speeds. Range Rover Sport HSE DYnamic SDV6 Velocity blue 2020 MY

Interesting topic this one.
I concur with the suicide at the roundabout feeling, to the extent that I sometimes put it into sports mode or 1st gear in commandshift to ensure I have a bit of power when I put my foot down.

Ive had my previous diesel engines remapped, on my mk 4 vw golf, i used a plug in box that worked really well I could overtake in 5th gear even at lower speeds and no rumbling at all and on my Seat Leon, I had a redline remap but not too long after I thought I heard a police siren behind me which turned out to be a whining turbo. I still feel that it may have been related but I am a bit paranoid at times.

Is there a decent plug in box that can be used on the TDV8 RR or is a full and proper map the only way to go?
Also, is it likely to be more risky with a high mileage engine around 100k or would that not really make a difference?

A tuning box will work, but it is very crude in the way it works. Essentially, it is a (very expensive) resistor in a box, which fools the PCM into thinking the fluid temperatures are colder than they are, and chucks in more diesel (which is not without its own issues)

A proper remap alters the fuelling levels, injection timing, boost pressures etc. Think of it as taking the standard fuelling map, and optimizing it Thumbs Up

A mapped TDV8 is incredible though. It won't be S/C quick, but the extra torque will make it feel that way Thumbs Up

I dont understand how different remappers achieve such vastly different results..... Gone but not forgotten, 2005 RRS SC first edition, BMW 2010 Z4,TVR Tamora, TVR Cerb, MERC SL 55 AMG, E46 M3, Z4, Jag S type R, Skyline R33 GTR 640 bhp, Evo FQ 400, L322 RR, X5, Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo, Lotus Elise 135r, Nissan Murano, Honda S2000, 911, Boxster s...and a few more

Some maps are generic, some are custom.

Some are done with "known good values", some are developed on a dyno

Some tuners know the boundaries of the engines.

When it comes to remaps, stick to those had have a good reputation, and you can't go wrong Thumbs Up

I went with a place in derbyshire and he diddnt come close to the claims he made in his advert...and he has a good rep...infact his claims were about the same as every one else but he just diddnt achieve them....why would this be? Gone but not forgotten, 2005 RRS SC first edition, BMW 2010 Z4,TVR Tamora, TVR Cerb, MERC SL 55 AMG, E46 M3, Z4, Jag S type R, Skyline R33 GTR 640 bhp, Evo FQ 400, L322 RR, X5, Lotus Esprit V8 twin turbo, Lotus Elise 135r, Nissan Murano, Honda S2000, 911, Boxster s...and a few more
