I am learning?

I thought the resistors were built into the lamps? Working with Virgin Trains and band of Brothers/Sisters to do something special for our injured servicemen and women

The early models had filament bulbs, which drew 21W from the circuit when the indicators are switched on.

The LED's only draw around 2.5W, so the car thinks there is a blown bulb, due to the low current.
The LED's still flash as the same speed, but the warning lights on the dash flash fast, to tell you there is an issue.

The resistors put a load into the circuit, so the car is still drawing enough current to cancel out the warnings

The 2010MY's were developed with LED's in mind, and so do not need resistors, only the 05-09MY's need them

Hope that helps Thumbs Up

Mikey, can you help, I bought these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261458919405?ssP...1423.l2649 and they don't appear to be the correct ones, the light flashes ok but the indicator on the dashes still flashes fast. Can you supply a correct one with some wire soldered on either side? Bow down Bow down

How have you connected them into the circuit, in series or in parallel?

If they are the wrong way, what you describe will happen

Thanks Mikey I have clamped them onto the wires but wasn't aware that there was a correct way round for the resistor, are they the correct rating at 50 watt 6 ohm ?

The resistor can be either way round, it doesn't matter.

What does matter is if it is wired in series or in parallel.

I hope this picture makes sense, albeit, using 2 bulbs:

Imagine the right hand "lamp" is your LED, and the left hand "lamp" is the resistor.
It won't work if the resistor is in line, it has to be placed across the circuit to load it up

Thumbs Up

It is loading because it gets hot when you put the indicators on...is it the right size resistor ?

But if the resistor is not connected into the circuit correctly, it will get hot, and appear to be working OK, but doing nothing...

Lets assume your resistors are fitted incorrectly. If I send you another pair of resistors, and they are fitted the same way, they will do exactly the same as yours are now. The resistors I use are also 50W

We need to establish whether the resistors have been fitted correctly in the first instance...

Thumbs Up

Perhaps this might help....

The resistor must have one side fed from the same 'live' feed as the bulb and the other 'side' connected to earth in the same way as the light unit earths. In other words it bridges the bulb circuit.

I apologise if I'm teaching "granny to suck eggs".
