New battery costs

Hi,

Anyone bought a new battery recently so I can compare costs?

My sports a 57 plate so I've been told I should stick with a factory battery.

I've had a price for £168 for a genuine one. Does that sound about right??

Sounds very cheap - I paid £238 (inc VAT) for a genuine LR one in March last year. But part of the explanation for the high price is that it is now a AGM technology which is far superior to the old wet plate type.

Top tip: take a multimeter with you and check the voltage across the terminals of any battery before you buy it. If its not well over 12 volts then the battery has not been properly maintained by the dealer whilst in storage.

I've done some checks already.

12.5v standing
14.8v running

Should have 950sma but had 628 say computer says good but needs recharge. Checked it on another mates diagnostic machine of a large recovery firm Thumbs Up

Getting the normal park brake fault etc after a few days of not using it.

Cars had an alternator last year but still on original battery.

That price is mates rates Whistle

Dhups, Darrens is a TDV8 so i don't think that particular battery will be upto the job.
