RRS S/C - Your thoughts please

Hi Guys,

Great forum.

I am on the lookout for a RRS 4.2 SC with a budget between £14k to around £16.5k. I have seen an example I like on AT but just wondered what peoples thoughts are on light cosmetic upgrades / enhancements from companies such as Revere, HST etc. This one has had just the lights and grilles done so looks good and just enough to give it an edge over the standard look. Bumpers for me unless HST look a step too far...

Jules.

Welcome Jules,

How much is it £15k or £17k, advert seems misleading.

It's a decent price, what service history does it have?
Has it been maintained all the belts and whistles etc changed, it should have?
Big questions any knocking from the suspension, what's the bodywork like, does it seem like a honest car?

Fingers crossed for you.

Mike

Hi Mike, I've not been to see it yet, but provisionally going to see it on Thursday.

It appears to have full service history and is currently covered by a Land Rover service / warranty package. The price is £15k.

Suspension wise has recently had a new compressor and bag.

Bodywork is described as immaculate, the lower skirts have been colour coded and the Revere parts (front grille, side grills, front and rear lights) were fitted by the current owner, who has owned the car for 3 years. I do like the looks of the car but would prefer that the front grille be changed and the rear badges removed, that aside I like the alloys and think it looks good. Just worried it's not too OTT hence asking he original question to gauge opinion.

Appreciate any input,

Cheers Jules.

Jules - held back with original reply - trying not to offend but I totally agree with what you've just posted - looks very tidy - maybe the Revere parts push it a little over the edge. 6 years ago maybe - but it needs to be calmed down ( if that makes sense). Wheels look nice & suit the car - double check all electrics - not only when stationary but whilst its being driven - ACC etc. Good luck Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Cheers Peachy.

Was thinking replace the grille, side vents and remove badges, and replace with HST or standard grille / vents. The lights and colour coding look fine. But do you think fitting a Meduza or similar front bumper will take it a step too far again?

Jules.

I'm not surprised, your CLS55 looked stunning. Cool

Although the RRS S/C with a few power mods is an amazing car as well. If it wasn't for insurance i would have gone for one.

Anyway i hope you find the right RRS. Thumbs Up 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Cheers Jas,

I have it all sorted out on paper Smile

If I buy the one above, it'll be Meduza front end, remove the Revere grilles / vents and replace for standard but colour coded, remove Revere badges on rear.

Then off to MSL for pulley / plugs, mechanical check over (cooling pump, system etc) & remap via Eurocharged. These are well proven and if the results are as good as the CLS55 then I'll be more than happy.

But like I say the plan is only on paper so we'll see. Very Happy

Jules.

Well I was 22 when I got my RRS (now 23) and the cheapest insurance quote for the TDV6 was £1100, and a S/C was over £2k so it just wasn't worth it for me at the time. I might consider a S/C when the time comes to replace the RRS. Thumbs Up 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

Sounds good.

I'm sure Acid will do a great job on the RRS. Can't wait to see the end result. Thumbs Up 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool
