I finally got a day with a bit of spare time so decided to treat the RRS to an exterior clean. I used the following Autoglym products for this finish:

1. Wash with bodywork shampoo
2. Chamois leather dry
3. Instant trye dressing
4. Fast glass
5. Full polish using Super Resin polish
6. Coat of extra gloss protection
7. Finished off with High Definition Wax

Approximately six hours work!!! Interior to do tomorrow!!! What do you guys think? I know its not to the taste of the RRS purists!!!

Just my opinion, but i would't use a chammy to dry your car, i'd recommend a good quality microfibre drying towel. I also wouldn't use a wax on top of a polish.

I have always used a good quality chamois. Today the car was almost dry before I had a chance to chamois it anyway. I have also always finished my vehicles in the order given and is also what Autoglym recommend. I went on an autoglym valeting course many years ago and I am sure this is what they taught.

Any recommendations on a drying towel? I might give it a try. Would it not just get too wet and then smear everywhere?
At least you can wring a chammy out.
I did mine by going to my gallery selected a photo and then at the bottom there is a button to click to use the photo as my avatar. That was on my laptop anyway not sure its the same on Ipad.

Go into your profile, then scroll down to your Avatar, then upload a picture you require, make sure the picture is no bigger than allowed otherwise it won't allow it. You might have to use a picture resizer. I use this one. Its free.

Wax can be hard work, i use a good paint sealer, much easier and quicker. Si, products have moved on leaps and bounds since you had your training, take a look on here, http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/ everything you will ever need to know and some great offers, this is where you will find a supplier of a good drying towel too.

Thats my thinking too Luke. Polish first to remove all the , then extra gloss to seal the paint then wax to protect the paint until the next time I have the time to do it all again.

Ady that looks like a good site with alot of information. When I get time I will have a read through. I dont think the products have moved on as Autoglym are still manufacturing the same products as they did when I was on the course.

There may be other new products but I still prefer Autoglym and will stick to it. I actually think the polishing is the hardest part. Once you have this on and then the gloss, the wax is quite easy to do as long as its not too hot and you dont leave it on too long.

From memory Autoglym make a wax to go over Super Resin Polish - High Definition or something. I've used SRP for years with Autoglyms Extra Gloss Protection over it instead of a wax and it's a great combination for darker colours. Waxes are good but hard work compared to some other finishes. It's a thing of beauty to see rain droplets beading and running off a freshly waxed car.

Super resin is full of fillers so doesn't really get rid of scratches just fills them.Ive found Scholl concept gold to be a very good polish on the RRS paintwork,then a quick wipe with Zaino 8

I use autoglym super resin polish I agree it does have fillers as a result it does mask the problem rather than cut the light scratches out. Currently looking at a alternative thats just as easy to put on and take off with out ending up with hulk arms.

I use the sonus de wunder drying towel works very effectively.

Wax wise I use collinite 476s Paste its a very long lasting wax meaning I only have to polish and wax twice a year. I always wax after polish to protect the shine so it lasts longer.

The 6 hours sounds spot on what it takes me to do a good exterior clean mate and my mrs shares the same view as yours
