Agree it does look like a bigger X3... I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing though. When I went to my dealer's X3 launch event, I drove a 3.0 Sport with all the trimmings and it looked great!

I don't want to sound biased or anything but in my mind the X5 and RRS are in two different leagues.

Depends what leagues you're talking about... Wink

Granted LR products are unbeatable in the offroad stakes. This is what they are designed to do. LR have also shown in the FFRR that they can make a luxury vehicle (and to a slightly lesser extent, the RRS too). However, in my opinion the likes of BMW beat LR hands down when it comes to building driver's cars. The FFRR has always handled like an out of control boat. The RRS actually handles & performs well for a car of its size, but it's no BMW in those terms.

Different people want different things from their cars. I love my RRS and it perfectly meets my current requirements for a car, don't get me wrong, but it hasn't turned me into a lifelong LR owner.

To each his/her own I guess, but driving the X5 reminds me of Toyota Land Cruiser from the 70s. Remember those? They look like this: http://so.cal.landcruisers.tripod.com/images/pic-petemartin2.jpg

And what about the interior. The X5's looks so outdated that makes you scratch your head and ask "what were they thinking". Granted the RRS's is nothing to write home about either.

Hope I don't sound like I'm arguing, I'll keep my mouth shut.

Well my next car is likely to be a motorised zimmer frame I think, as I intend to run my RRS for a long time into my imminent retirement. TDV6 - gone

Certainly not aam - this is the point of discussion forums, to have discussions Very Happy

The recent "Bangled" BMW designs have caused more heated pub discussions between petrolheads than a lot of other things recently - and it's true you either love them or hate them. Again, the recent BMW interior changes are also very contentious, especially having moved away from the classic BMW wraparound interior. I must admit I prefer the older interiors to the newer ones too, but having spent some time in BMWs with the newer interiors they do grow on you (well, me).

Always good to hear other points of view - hope we haven't put you off Very Happy Thumbs Up

as a current E61 driver, IMHO the BMW interiors are dull, plus I hate the indicators and cruise control system Evil or Very Mad - bought it in Feb, and got bored with it in 2 months - a new record for me. Apart from the 1 series however, I do like the styling of the new BM range
