I got a gvif to fit by I'm confused now.

Dosent take much to confuse me. Laughing

I've bought the interface to be fitted to 06my hse, I've got the oem sat nav screen fitted but I want tv and DVD.

What else do I have to buy to achieve this? I've searched and read so much I don't know what to do next.

Do I need a different areal to pick up tv signal?
What DVD player do I buy?
Where do I fit it too?
Do I have to buy something to receive tv signal or is that built into the interface?

It's a version 7 if that helps.

Thanks in advance. Thumbs Up

You will have to buy a dvbt tuner and a DVD player,no your Ariels won't pick up tv but you may get them with the tuner.

Thanks mate

Do I have to buy a special sort of DVD player? 12v or any normal one with a power inverter?

If you are going the DVD route, you can buy a 6 changer cheap enough to go in the right rear pod (with a little mod or two) but why not consider something like storing your films on an i-something or other and just plugging straight into the GVIF input

If you go for a DVD dont forget to make sure it has a remote, you will also need to consider the audio input - perhaps a FM modulator? Paul Redding

Thanks for the reply.

I just bought this for the tv side of things.
eBay item number eBay Item No. 330927580569

I have a iPad and iPhone so I could download films on them.
What's the name of the cable I need to connect it to the gvif?

Thumbs Up

As I expect your GVIF is going under the passenger seat I would suggest wiring a set of the aux/RCA cables up to a socket at the rear of the centre consul if you have something there already or adding whatever suitable connector to whatever apple sell in terms of cables (sorry don't know that first hand). I have seen cables wired all the way up to the glovebox along with power so you can leave your device in there. Paul Redding

We'll I fitted the gvif and dvbt today. Managed to get a brilliant picture but no sound.
I got some power from under the centre console or fridge unit. How do I get the sound to work?

I take it I gotta get a aux lead and solder it to the rear aux jack wire somewhere?

Try putting an Aux connector in the aux hole on the back of the cubby box - it just needs the jack inserted Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Thanks for you reply mate but I wanted it with no wires in view. Embarassed

Think I read somewhere on here that the sound can be hard wired in and you can't see any wires?
Is that right?

I have the small end of the Aux lead left in the connection hole - it is discreet & does the job well - if there is a way - I'd be interested to see it - the freeview Tv was fitted by a different technician & he couldn't find another way Question Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

I was thinking of getting a phono to 3.5mm jack cable cut the jack end off and route it under the centre console and piggy back it onto the wires going to the aux port?

Would that work? Maybe Bodsey will be able to help Bow down Bow down
