Well since selling the TDV8 it's been all on road stuff for zee German.... until today.

2 miles of steeply sloping, boggy, wet, long grassed lanes with the odd deep muddy farm gateway to concentrate the mind.

In addition I was towing my 11ft boat and 10hp outboard used for river surveying.

All on 295 21" Michelin road tyres

Went down fine.... was wishing I had HDC a few times but kept it straight and pinned in 1st.

On way back up at end of day it was a case of nailing it in 2nd, turning off traction control and keeping the rear out of the ditches....

It did it... and was highly entertaining.... still wished I was doing it in the sport though  RRS gone

Does the q7 have off road options with the gearbox etc?

Should of had a go pro on the dash to film it.

I've not had your old sport off road yet, well it been up a curb or so (using the drop curb of course )

no mate... all you get is a traction control on/off button

The sport is waaay more accomplished than the Q7... The Audi just wants to squirm all the time, where the sport was rock solid and really needed to be bullied to miss-behave

Saying that, I took a leaf out of the "off road" videos on here, when it gets a bit touch a go...boot it and keep steering to find grip.... seemed to work even though I think I shaved a mm or 10 off my tires  RRS gone

All good fun though.

The audi seems well planted on the tarmac so you can't have both.

Ok , full fat v cayenne , but very similar comparison to yours off road I would think, fun video all the same
