They do look particularly slim and not that useable, but that's only going on the pictures, I've not seen/used them in the flesh.

Recently picked up a RRS2 and want to add side steps. Miss them coming from a Disco4 which had them.

For the average DIY'er, I think they are quite a job. You really need access to a lift because you can't jack up the car because the jack gets in the way and there's the residual worry of how you jack up the car once they are in place anyway. I believe (and I may be wrong) that the fixed steps are strong enough to support a jack but not the deployables. There is also a potential conflict with front mudguards.

The deployable side steps on the RRS (and FFRR) can be left in place if you need to jack the car - I believe that you had to remove them on the old model.

They really donīt look as nice or as substantial as the old style.... nor do they suit the car as well..

Ordered my HSE Dynamic with 22" style 6's, red callipers and the fixed side steps. I think it looks fantastic, but I guess I am biased . I am really please with side steps, they are useful for the female members of the family to get in and out, they are also really useful in the car park as I think they do help to protect the side of the car from others.
