United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HST Java Black

The size of a Q7 did concern me before I bought one, but the cabin wraps around you; it's very car-like.

It's also a lot sharper at pace; my Sport didn't feel too clever after 85 whereas its very easy to sit at over 100 in the Audi and not even realise you are doing it, there's been a few instances where I've slowly creeped up speed and before you know it you're in straight ban territory. That is probably also down to two things; the Q7 isn't really designed to go off-road and I've also got a lot more powerful engine.

I will probably buy another Sport, although it would have to be a facelift post '09 model.

Strange. My RRS feels fine at high speed. Stable and comfortable. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Just a little update for those with any sort of interest in 'the competition'...

And all I can say is wow, what a motor. After an initial period of trying to warm to the Q7, it's totally bowled us over (and more importantly the wife loves it)

Averages 22mpg around town and 30-35mpg on a run which I think is very good for the power and size of the vehicle. It has also surprised me how far you can push it on twisty roads, just set the suspension in dynamic mode and away you go.

Absolutely useless off-road though, we went coursing in it and ended up having to come back and change into the P38...

So if you're considering replacing your RR Sport and it'll not be going 'off-road' then I'd recommend putting the Q7 V8 TDI on your list.
