OK - to clarify the situation. My RRS Supercharged will play MP3's and WMA [ windows media Audio ]

I have tried and tested both formats in the car - both are OK

Of course you will get far more tracks in MP3 format on a disc than in wma

Doesn't it depend on the Bitrate?

Yep, but also worth considering how portable you want your collection of ripped CDs to be. i.e. not all portable MP3 players play WMA files.
