Hello from newbie + query on 4.2 sc

Hello to all, new here.
I am looking at a Range Rover Sport 4.2 supercharged. Am I right in assuming that the first edition is no longer availiable new?
Also most mags list the first edition and an existing 4.2 supercharged model but that is nearly 2 secs to 60 slower. Is this correct and am I right in thinking that the quickest version (the 4.2 supercharged) is only capable of 0-60 in 9.1 secs?
I drove a 4.4 v8 hse at the weekend and loved it but was very underwhelmed with the lack of grunt.
Thanks Smile

LR have the time down as 7.2s, ones i have tested with our 0-60 timer run in at about 6.5s untuned.
I am skeptical of how accurate it is however the times it produces are very consistent so its a useful benchmark.
9.2s sounds very poor for a sc, perhaps they ran the test 5 up Very Happy

Auto car and top gear list 2 supercharged variants, one as first edition with a 0-60 of 7.1 and another variant at 9.2.
I couldnt understand what was different apart from the fact that Vesuvious was only available on the first edition.

I have been running a Supercharged for nearly a year. It is no different to the 1st edition.

If you check LR website and every magazine going - you will be left with the impression/understanding that a supercharged is going to propell you to 60mph from standing still in approx 7secs.

Having said that ....... driving one .... feels a lot lot quicker Very Happy

GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR DEALER - BUY ONE IMMEDIATELY Thumbs Up

Malaysia 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Chawton White

Don't know where you get your information from, Bax. Its wrong!

There's absolutely no difference in performance between the 4.2SC and 4.2SC 1st Edition. The 1st Edition is the same car as the 4.2SC but with Stormer wheels, PTI and some other accessories as standard. Nothing performance enhancing!!

Other than Vesuvious Orange, the 1st Ed. was also available in Java and Silver.

Having said that, please do as MDP advised - Go straight to your dealer and buy one immediately!! Wink Wink Malaysia Boleh!

It's like the TDV6... I think they advertise a 0-60 of about 12s, but in real terms I'm sure it's quicker than that.

Also, as no one actually replied to this bit, you are acorrect, the 1st Edition was a limited run and is no longer available brand new. You may find a second hand one with low miles however they command a higher price than a standard SC as MDP and myself have.

The 1st edition only came in three colours, Vesuvius Orange, Java Black and Zambezi Silver. The primary differences were Stormer alloys, Lined Oak interior, sunroof, rear seat entertainment.

Only 1300 were manufactured in total. L319 D4 HSE

Dealer told me that you can have vesuvious as a 10k extra.Ouch.
Okay I looked in this weeks autocar and as I initially said there are definatley 100% 2 4.2 supercharged variants listed, one the first edition, one is listed at 58995 the other 57 something. The first edition is listed as getting to 60 in 7.1 the other at 9.2. There are two listings in top gear mag giving the same 0-60 times.
Im only interested in new so first edition is out and im going to wait for My07 as i beleive it has revised satnav and a couple of other bits. I think they said that the lower door mountings are body colour but maybe wrong.

I'm sure the dealer would love to respray the car for 10K! WOW. Shocked

There is absolutely NO performance variation between the 1st Ed' and the normal SC cars. I reckon it's a deliberate disparity put about by Landrover at time of launch to ensure the 1st edition hit harder to ensure sales.

Afterall, how can more equipment on a car with the same engine etc make it quicker? They also did not have a different engine map.

Good luck with your search. L319 D4 HSE

Be careful what you wish for... According to a memo from LRUK posted here, the "controversial" HST trim is the only way you will be able to order a SC for the 2007 model year, at least in the UK:

Not knowing too much about these cars I am assuming that the pics posted are the hst spec for MY07 and that is the colour coded bumpers and rather boxey front end?
