United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Special Forces RRS

The SAS have long had a secret association with Range Rovers, and less secret one with Landrovers.

They use the good old British Bruiser in cities where they need power, weight, bulk, speed and to blend in. Some have been specially adapted over the years to include things like the photo below and Armourfend.

Has anyone heard of them using the RRS yet? I would guess the Supercharged would make an ideal vehicle, if not a tad small inside compared to the FFRR.

Re: Special Forces RRS

You should stick to reading 4x4 monthly and cancel your "Mercenary Monthly" subscription Laughing

There is a place in London that adapts a massive number of vehicles for these chaps as well as other Govt Depts. One of the alterations that they make is a big engine in a smaller vehicle or small van, they certainly would not be using the latest desirable 4x4 if they were trying to blend in. Think along the lines of small van with very big engine etc etc etc.

(No, dont ask me why I would know such a thing or why I am being so vague Wink )

Don't that company do armour-plate jobs on all sorts of cars? I remember reading in BMW Magazine a while back about a bombproof 7-series they'd adapted. It weighed about 3 tons apparently, but with engine mods still did 0-60 in 6 secs.

I think it was a modified 760Li and that's just over 5 secs to 60 anyway, I think, so I suppose the extra weight hasn't actually affected the car that much. I seem to remember its handling wasn't even affected that badly... but what do you expect for 200k?
